Way 1: Physical Therapy
Not all physical therapy is created equal. The rehabilitation specialists at Sharon use a variety of progressive techniques like the McKenzie Method, which helps centralize the pain to target symptoms and bring rapid relief. They then help you with strengthening exercises to stabilize the spine, and design a program you can use on your own to prevent and treat future problems.

Way 2: Pain Management
To assist with rehabilitation, Sharon's dedicated Interventional Pain Management Center offers a wide range of advanced options to treat degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, chronic neck and back pain and more. They create personalized programs to help you return to your active life, with treatments that may include epidural steroid and trigger point injections, nerve blocks, implantable devices and other relief techniques.

Way 3: Surgery
At Sharon, we almost always start with a non-surgical approach to care. But when surgery is your best solution, we offer a variety of procedures to help you find long-term relief. Dr. Shannon specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, including kyphoplasty to repair fragility fractures caused by osteoporosis. During the procedure, he inflates a small balloon within the fractured vertebra to create a cavity. Bone cement is then inserted within that opening to stabilize the fracture and restore the original size, shape and alignment of the vertebrae. This procedure can provide significant pain relief, while allowing you to stand straight, move easier and help prevent future fractures.
