Primary Health Network and Sharon Regional announce partnership
to expand services
Primary Health Network (PHN) and Sharon Regional have joined together to offer
several services to the community. The most notable partnership revolves around
Primary Health's leasing of a Sharon medical office building on Elm Avenue from
Sharon Regional that is the new home for Shenango Valley surgeons Gene Marcelli,
M.D. and Ravi Sachdeva, M.D.
Drs. Marcelli and Sachdeva recently joined Primary Health Network on a full-time
basis to provide surgery services under the practice name of PHN Surgical Associates.
Dr. Marcelli has been associated with PHN for the past seven years on a limited,
part-time basis.
"We joined PHN to be able to focus more on the practice of surgery and less
on the business side of medicine," said Dr. Marcelli. "Our practice will
benefit from the efficiencies of being part of a large group like PHN as well
as reduce our insurance costs," he added.
The Elm Avenue Health Center will also offer psychiatric and counseling services
several days per week through Sharon Regional's Behavioral Health Services.
Providers of psychiatric services are Ashraf Oloufa, M.D., Satish Narayan, M.D.,
and Cynthia Pascal-Pulliam, CRNP. Kathy Holliday, LSW, will soon provide counseling
services.
Future plans call for additional primary care physicians to work at the site
along with specialty clinics in areas like orthopedics and endocrinology. Another
program that Sharon Regional provides to PHN includes full-time laboratory services
at the network's Sharon Medical Group location so that patients can have their
blood work done on-site without needing to travel to the hospital.
"In every community where PHN provides services, we enjoy strong partnerships
with area hospitals," notes Jack Laeng, PHN Executive Director. It's
great to have expanded our Mercer County affiliations to include Sharon Regional
in a number of meaningful ways," he added.
"We're pleased to be working with the Primary Health Network in continuing to
enhance the programs and services available for the medically-underserved individuals
and families in our area," stated Wayne Johnston, president and CEO of Sharon
Regional. "We certainly recognize the success of Primary Health in this
effort and look forward to working with them on additional cooperative programs
in the future."
PHN has 214 full and part-time employees, including 64 providers who specialize
in family practice, podiatry, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, geriatric
medicine, dentistry, oral surgery, pediatrics, general surgery, adult medicine,
chiropractic, complementary medicine, optometry, orthopedic surgery, pain management,
nutritional counseling and otolaryngology and allergy.
