Three physicians join Sharon Regional medical staff

Sharon Regional recently welcomed three physicians to its medical staff. They are Rodney Landreneau, M.D., thoracic surgeon, Valeri Roth, D.O., otolaryngologist, and Brian Shannon, M.D., orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Landreneau is a member of the Magovern Group (Cardio-Thoracic Surgical Associates, Inc.), which provides cardiothoracic surgery services at Sharon Regional. He recently was selected to become a Fellow of the American Surgical Association, a prestigious medical society considered by many to be among the highest of honors in the field of surgery.

Dr. Landreneau is board certified in general and thoracic surgery and is a Professor of Surgery, with tenure, through the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine. He has helped pioneer numerous procedures for the treatment of lung and esophageal cancer and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Dr. Roth joined the practice of David E. Wood, D.O., otolaryngology, at 1632 Dutch Lane, Hermitage. She specializes in pediatric and adult disorders of the ear, nose and throat, sinus surgery, and functional and cosmetic nasal surgery.

Dr. Roth, a native of Sharpsville, returned to the Shenango Valley after serving in private practice in Cape May Court House, NJ. She previously was a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps serving as chief of the division of otolaryngology at DeWitt Army Community Hospital at Fort Belvoir, VA, and as a staff otolaryngologist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Shannon joined David Tonnies, M.D., in the practice of orthopedic surgery/sports medicine, at 295 N. Kerrwood Dr., Hermitage. Dr. Shannon specializes in hip and knee replacements, hip and knee revision surgery, arthritis surgery, osteoporosis, and sports medicine.

Dr. Shannon completed a fellowship in Lower Extremity (hip and knee) Reconstruction at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, a residency in orthopedic surgery and an internship in general surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. The New Wilmington native earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and undergraduate degree from Notre Dame, where he was a four-year letter-winner on its football team.
