Sharon Regional Health System's main laboratory and Cancer Care Center lab
accredited
Sharon Regional Health System's main laboratory and Cancer Care Center lab recently
were accredited by the College of American Pathologists after an on-site inspection.
The college's Laboratory Accreditation Program, which started in the early 1960s,
is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than
the government's own inspection program.
Inspectors examine the records and quality control of the laboratory for the preceding
two years, as well as the education and qualifications of the total staff, the
adequacy of the facilities, the equipment, lab safety, and lab management to determine
how well the lab is serving the patient.
The college is a medical society serving nearly 16,000 physician members and the
laboratory community throughout the world.
