December, 2004 Sharon Regional earns continued accreditation from JCAHO Sharon Regional Health System has achieved continued accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, based on its recent on-site visit. Because of the size and breadth of services provided by Sharon Regional, individual surveys were done of the Home Health Agency/Hospice Program, Behavioral Health Services, and an overall hospital and health system survey. The surveyors made numerous positive comments during their re-accreditation visit: "I did not realize your facility was so comprehensive. You do good things here." "You have some wonderful activities going on here. The breadth of services you provide to the community is exemplary." The outpatient Behavioral Health surveyor indicated that he has surveyed 12 other outpatient behavioral health programs this year and Sharon Regional's program was the only program that did not have any findings requiring a written response. He complimented the facilities, the credentials and longevity of the staff, and the cooperation between physicians and other clinicians. The Home Health and Hospice surveyor said that the staff were "shining stars." They complimented the care being given in difficult situations. "They do a very good job in dietary." "Pharmacists are an important part of the team here." "5 and 6 West give good care. I can see you are enthusiastic about your job." "The OB Unit is very nice with well trained staff." "Your cardiac services are stellar. I don't think people realize the high level of services that you have here. Your critical care nurses function at a high level." "Your Cancer Care Center is impressive, inviting, warm, and engaging with a very competent staff." "You have very well maintained facilities. Your environmental services and maintenance personnel do an excellent job." "Your Rehab staff are really caring, very knowledgeable, and there is very good interdisciplinary teamwork." The survey team was also very impressed with the members of the Medical Staff who were involved in the survey, including: Dr. Alex, Dr. Baling, Dr. Biscardi, Dr. Buckwalter, Dr. Cohen, Dr. D'Auria, Dr. Marcelli, Dr. Moonda, Dr. Morgan, Dr. Ryan, Dr. Sachdeva, Dr. Segarra, and Dr. Shannon. |
