Home Health/Hospice nursing at Sharon Regional
By Rosemary Freeman, RN, MSN, BSN, Interim director
Home Health/Hospice & Advanced Wound Recovery Center

Home health and hospice care are valuable parts of the continuum of services that Sharon Regional provides to patients in Mercer County, northern Lawrence County, and eastern Trumbull County, Ohio. Sharon Regional’s Home Health and Hospice Agency provides comprehensive health care to patients whose needs can be met at home.

Home Health services are skilled nursing (including high-tech and intravenous therapy, and maternal/infant/pediatric nursing) physical, occupational, and speech therapies, medical social work, and home care aide.

One of the goals of Home Health care is to assist the patient to remain in their home, promoting as much independence as possible. Patients are often more comfortable in the loving atmosphere of home, and respond well to the skilled treatments and education provided in a familiar environment.

The Hospice Home Care staff provides support to family members or friends who care for loved ones dying at home. Through home visits, the Hospice team plans care and commits to keeping the patient comfortable while maintaining the highest possible physical, emotional, and spiritual quality of life. The Hospice plan includes a focus on controlling pain and symptoms, thus allowing the terminally ill patient to remain at home for as long as possible.

The entire staff of the home health agency is committed to providing the highest quality of care. We are especially proud and pleased to receive recognition of our excellent care with a perfect score of 100 in last fall’s Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations survey. Few agencies in the country receive that kind of distinction.

Home Health/Hospice will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year and plans to continue to provide outstanding care to the people of our community for many years to come.
