Sept. 30, 2003 Cardiac Rehabilitation program awarded national certification Sharon Regional's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has been awarded Program Certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Certification recognizes those programs rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet the outlined essential requirements of standards of care. According to the AACVPR national office, it is the only cardiac program in Mercer County to have earned this certification. Sharon Regional's program, part of its Heart Institute, focuses on risk factor modification for secondary prevention of coronary artery disease. It has been in place for more than 25 years and is the standard of care for patients who have had a heart attack in the past 12 months, following open heart surgery, and for those patients with stable angina. The AACVPR is a national multi-disciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry, and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve. Any physician may refer their patients to the program. For more information contact Mary Jane Altham, RN, Director of Critical Care and Cardiology, at 724-983-3887. | ![]() |
