Remodeling of Child/Adolescent psychiatric unit completed

Sharon Regional recently completed the remodeling of its child and adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit resulting in a more progressive treatment environment for its patients. The enhancements to the unit included redecorating of all rooms and public areas along with new flooring featuring geometric patterns that utilize bright, primary colors.

The child and adolescent inpatient unit is a division of Sharon Regional’s Behavioral Health Services, Mercer County’s largest provider of mental health services. The unit offers 12 beds for the intense treatment of behavioral health problems in children and teens from ages 5-18.

The unit provides treatment for depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, attention deficit disorders, and other serious mental disorders. Psychiatrists who specialize in children and adolescents along with a team of mental health workers develop a treatment plan that includes active participation of the family, school, and community agencies. Classroom instruction is available on the unit during the school year and coordination with outpatient services for ongoing care and treatment upon discharge is provided.

If you know of a child in emotional distress, call 724-983-3889 or 800-950-9982 for more information. In times of a crisis, please go directly to Sharon Regional’s Emergency Care Center. An assessment will be completed and appropriate treatment or recommendations provided.
