Sharon Regional's diabetes self-education program merits ADA recognition
The prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate
for a quality, self-management education program was recently awarded to
Sharon Regional Health System's Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, 3150
Highland Rd., Hermitage. The ADA believes that the Center's self-management
program offers high-quality diabetes self-management education that is an
essential component of effective diabetes treatment.
The Association's Education Recognition Certificate assures that educational
programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education
Programs. The standards were developed and tested under the auspices of
the National Diabetes Advisory Board in 1993 and were revised by the diabetes
community in 1994.
The ADA's National Board of Diabetes Educators also recognized Sharon Regional's
Lisa Bertolasio, RN, BSN, CDE, for achieving ongoing certification, and
Amy DeCesare, RN, M.Ed., CDE, for achieving initial certification in diabetes
education.
