Sharon Regional welcomes 3 physicians

Sharon Regional recently welcomed three physicians to its medical staff. They are Samer Makhoul, M.D., pulmonology, Theresa Marx-Armile, M.D., F.A.C.E., endocrinology, and Ashraf M. Oloufa, M.D., psychiatry.

Dr. Oloufa, who specializes in the practice of adult and adolescent psychiatry, is affiliated with Behavioral Health Services, 2375 Garden Way, Hermitage, Dr. Makhoul assists pulmonologist Jeffrey Lazar, M.D., FCCP, in providing care through their office within the Health System, while Dr. Marx-Armile is associated with fellow endocrinologist Nadine Alex, M.D., with offices at 2395 Garden Way, Hermitage.

Dr. Makhoul completed a Critical Care fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital. He specializes in COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), emphysema, asthma, lung cancer, shortness of breath and cough. Dr. Makhoul is board certified in pulmonary medicine, internal medicine, and board eligible in critical care medicine.

Dr. Marx-Armile specializes in the diagnosis and management of diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, and cholesterol disorders. She offers in-office thyroid ultrasound and ultrasound guided thyroid needle biopsies. She received her medical education at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, completed her internal medicine residency at Forum Health in Youngstown, and her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Oloufa provides care in depression and bipolar disorders, anxiety and adjustment disorders, brief psychotherapy, substance abuse, medication management, and consultations and forensic evaluations. He completed a residency in psychiatry at the Medical College of Philadelphia-Hahnemann and an internship in internal medicine at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Philadelphia.

Dr. Oloufa is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Most recently, Dr. Oloufa served as an attending psychiatrist for the Inpatient & Dual-Diagnosis Service at the Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment in Philadelphia.
