The Transitional Care Unit at Sharon Regional Health System is a 38-bed transitional care facility licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and certified to provide skilled Medicare services.
The unit functions as a transition center for patients just finishing the acute phase of a hospital stay that still need a level of skilled care to complete their recovery. Their average length of stay is less than 20 days, with most remaining in our care for one to two weeks.
Following their stay on our unit, patients will return home or to an alternative care setting appropriate to their needs, such as long-term care, assisted living or a rehabilitation center.

Admissions
Patients may be admitted to the unit by their attending physician. A patient whose admitting physician is not a member of the medical staff at Sharon Regional Health System may be admitted by the unit's medical director. The unit accepts patients without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, handicap or religious creed.
Reimbursement
Services provided by the transitional care unit are typically reimbursed by Medicare, Security Blue or other commercial insurance companies. You may also choose to self-pay. The admissions coordinator will be happy to discuss your financial concerns.
Visiting Hours
There are no visiting restrictions for the transitional care unit. Please let the nursing staff know if you plan to visit late in the evening, early in the morning or during the night.
