Medical Imaging
While many comparable hospitals across the country lag behind major metropolitan
medical centers in the services they offer, Sharon Regional's Medical Imaging
Department has succeeded in making state-of-the-art equipment and services
along with a highly qualified and professionally trained staff available to
our community.

Allegheny Radiology Associates, Ltd. (ARA) is the exclusive provider of general diagnostic and advanced imaging services at Sharon Regional's hospital and its affiliated satellite centers. The group also provides imaging services to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, a member of the West Penn Allegheny Health System.
The group consists of 24 Board Certified radiologists, led by Paul M. Kiproff, M.D., Medical Director of the Sharon Regional program and Chair of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Allegheny General.
Patients choosing Sharon Regional and its affiliated physicians have access to the most advanced imaging and radiology services available, through the new team of on-site radiologists along with instant access to radiology sub-specialists in Pittsburgh through a sophisticated teleradiology computer link.
In addition to full Diagnostic Radiology services, the radiology group offers Breast Imaging; Body Imaging; Emergency, Musculoskeletal and Trauma Radiology; Thoracic Imaging; Neuroradiology; Neurointerventional Radiology; Vascular and Interventional Radiology; and Nuclear Medicine.
All radiologists are board certified in their area of specialty and many also hold faculty appointments at Drexel University College of Medicine.
Today, the field of medical imaging has grown to include not just x-rays but
also other diagnostic procedures such as computed tomography (CT scan), ultrasound, PET/CT, nuclear
medicine and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
In addition to imaging services at our hospital, we have a full spectrum of advanced imaging services at the new Diagnostic & Imaging Center, Hermitage, plus general x-ray at the Mercer Family Medicine Center.
Sharon Regional's short-bore, fixed MRI unit blends the comfort of an open
MRI with the fast scan times and higher quality images available only through
a high field system. The system allows Medical Imaging to provide
MRI exams from head to toe and to scan pediatric, claustrophobic and obese
patients who once experienced high anxiety in conventional MRIs.
