Sharon Regional Health System's vascular surgery program, offers a range of arterial procedures such as peripheral artery angioplasty, carotid endarterectomy, and arterial bypass surgery.
A recent expansion to the vascular surgery program now offers transilluminated powered phlebectomy, a less invasive surgical procedure to treat varicose veins. This new procedure allows surgeons to see the veins during the procedure and visually confirm their removal. Compared to traditional varicose vein surgery, the new procedure is faster, has fewer incisions, improves visualization for the surgeon, and results in more complete vein removal.
Sharon Regional's board certified vascular surgery team performs both vascular surgery procedures and minimally- invasive endovascular procedures at Sharon Regional. The group specializes in Endovascular Interventions (one of the fastest growing areas of vascular medicine) which are designed to access various regions within the body via major blood vessels using catheters, guidewires, balloons, stents, etc. As a non-surgical treatment technique, patients benefit by not having to undergo a traditional surgical procedure thus having less discomfort and a faster recovery time.
